Check Out These Amazing Mommy-and-Me Classes in Modesto, California

A little girl spends time with her pregnant mother as they prepare for a mommy and me class in modesto

Mommy and Me Classes

Modesto, California

Hey friends! I’ve been there–whether you are looking for something to do to get out of the house, or finding a way to make lasting memories with your littles, I have you covered!!  Mommy-and-me classes are a great way to go, and  Modesto has some amazing opportunities for parents like you!

So without too much delay, let me show you what we have! (List will be updated as I learn of more!)

  1.  Zumbini in the Central Valley

Melanie is an Occupational Therapist who has worked with a variety of children and has a very welcoming, sweet personality.  Once she started having her own children, she decided to start the Zumbini chapter in the Central Valley. Zumbini is a movement and music class that is geared towards children aged 1-4.  She is currently on break as she just had another baby, but she will be returning soon!

2. Juline School of Dance

Juline School of Dance offers a Dance With Me class for ages 1-3.  This class helps children to learn to follow directions and music in a fun way, and helps them get used to wearing ballet shoes and being in a dance studio.  It’s pretty adorable to see them dancing across the room!

3. Music Together of Modesto

This class, similar to the others listed, utilizes music and movement to get baby going! From their website, “Our research-based music classes are designed to be non-formal and non-performance oriented, so your child can learn at his or her own pace, in a way that’s developmentally appropriate.”

4. Fit4Mom Modesto

Fit4Mom is a workout class for moms designed to allow you to not only get fit, but bring your child and meet other moms in the process! It’s a win-win!  We all enjoy fresh air and (sometimes) exercise, and that postpartum period can definitely give you the blues, especially when you feel like you are trapped in the house with a baby. Getting out and being around others and getting movement in is so good for your mental health.  Give the class a try for free and see if you like it!

5. Move with Mama at Breathe Ripon

Move with Mama is another fitness class that is also geared towards helping you connect with community while also helping you to get more movement into your day. They offer a variety of workouts in their studio as well as a membership option.

From the Owner: “All of our classes have our kids corner open which is a space with kiddie tables, plush rug, bean bag chairs, whiteboard tables, bookcase of coloring books, blocks, and more! Many moms bring their children with them to class as classes last 45-60 minutes and let them entertain themselves in the kids corner with other children or stay close with them on the mat. On Thursdays at 9AM we offer Move With Mama. The instructor brings her 18 month old for an hour long session. And mamas get a full body, low impact pilates style workout, using babies as props. and in between each set we offer baby breaks where they sing with their toddlers, use the color parachute, or stretch with baby. ”

Come check them out!!

6. Library Story Time

This was one of our favorite stops when our kids were not in school yet :). The Stanislaus County library system has a variety of locations that offer storytime. Typically, storytime is around 10am.  They will read a fun, interactive story and sing songs that the kids can dance to.  Sometimes, they even have special story-themed play setups that allow the children to explore, making them feel like they are in the book!  Library storytime is free and happens once a week.

7.  The Little Luminaries

The Little Luminaries is “a performing arts group that emphasizes the importance of imagination, storytelling, and childlike wonder through dance and song.”  If your child is age 4 and up, they are welcome to participate!  They perform multiple times a year, so your child will have lots of opportunities to shine!  While this is not a mommy-and-me group, parents are encouraged to participate.  It’s pretty exciting to see that Modesto has theatrical opportunities for children, as this can boost confidence, social skills, and imaginary play!

8.  The Mom Walk Co., Modesto

If you like taking walks, joining others for playdates, and participating in a variety of activities, this is the place for you! Come hang out with other moms of your community and strengthen those community connections, make friends, and get some movement in 🙂 Just like the other groups here, its so valuable to find your tribe, and this is a great place to start!

9. Weird Mom’s Club, Modesto

Weird Moms is a free club to join. It was started by a couple of local moms that wanted to make a few new friends and to find other like-minded individuals.  They have activities at least once a week, kids are *almost* always invited (save the occassional “moms only” dates 😉 ) , and they have even hosted donation drives.  If you want to make some down-to-earth friends without the financial commitment, this is a great place to go!!

A mom holds two of her kids as they kiss her pregnant belly, and this sweet family would have so much fun joining a mommy and me class in modesto.
