A Baby for Big Brother

Kaylie

"Are you excited to have a baby sister??"
I always love seeing the older sibling's reactions to having a new sibling, especially if they have no idea what is coming :). Babies really do change each person in a family, and its beautiful to see the full-range of emotions as this happens!   This is why I love including the whole family in your maternity session.  And then, of course, if you want to focus this time on YOU, and your connection to baby, I love that, too!

A Growing Baby Bump

Hannah

This adorable mama was starting to show her bump, so we took the opportunity to grab some maternity photos during her family mini-session.
They had such a sweet family, so much love, and as you can see, absolutely beautiful little ones!  This is one of my favorite locations in the central valley for shooting just about every type of session!

Hold up, there's a Goddess in the house!

Briana & Justin

I am pretty sure this couple came straight from Mount Olympus! Just look at this gorgeous babe!
Briana is such an amazing, salt-of-the-earth kind of person.  These photos were taken on private property in Waterford, the same location where they had their wedding, and I absolutely loved the symbolism of that!
If you are looking for a great place to rent dresses like this, which I HIGHLY recommend,  I include links in my Maternity guide.  It feels so good to feel good!

Your bay area maternity  Photography

I always recommend not skipping these photos, because this "pause" is momentous and significant to this journey that you are on.  Everything in your life is about to change, and that is both a little nerve-wracking, exciting, and everything in-between.  Someday, your little one is going to be so curious to see their very beginnings, and you will be so glad that you have photos of it to show them!

There is a reason for the phrase "Pregnant Pause."
It is a time filled with a thoughtful, emotive anticipation for what is to come.

2. contract & non-refundable retainer

Once you have decided that you want to move forward with taking maternity photos, you will sign a contract and pay a non-refundable retainer that will go towards your session.  You will also fill out a simple questionnaire that will help the both of us prepare for your session.

As your session approaches, I will send you a maternity guide that will help you decide on a wardrobe, and will help you to prepare for your session. Of course, I will always be available for any questions you may have!  Im so excited to talk about locations, outfits, and that sweet growing bump!

3. Maternity Guide

Yay! Shoot day is here! We will meet either at your home during the mid-morning hours (if you choose an indoor shoot), or about 1.5 hours before sunset for outdoor photos.  I'll guide you into positions that will help accentuate your bump, and of course, your immediate family is included if you wish. This is a celebration of these beautiful moments for you and your family, and is a great way to show this little one all the joy they are coming into.

4. let's shoot!

I will deliver a few sneak peaks about 48 hours after your session, and the rest of your photos within three weeks in a downloadable digital format, with the option to order heirloom prints, albums, canvases, or cards directly from your gallery to showcase this exciting time.  I always recommend printing your photos so that someday, little hands may hold them and look at them in awe, thinking "That's me in there!"

“At the last minute, I asked Shayna to book a maternity session and newborn session. She was very flexible in working me in and did it without hesitation! Shayna is an absolute pleasure to work with and I am so grateful that I had her be there to document all these milestones for my family! The photos turned out better than I even imagined!”

"Shayna took her time and was extremely patient as I settled into each pose with my huge belly. And during my labor photos, she was such a rockstar and encouraged me throughout. She was also very respectful of asking about certain photos I maybe didn’t want getting taken (I can only think of one situation that I didn’t prefer), it was a very comfortable and safe environment. And now they are the most precious photos I have."
